The 2017 David Fleetwood Memorial Scholarship Program.

This year we are offering two (2) scholarships to deserving Pleasant Valley School District graduates.

We have been fortunate to have received monies specifically earmarked to recognize students who exemplify the outstanding attributes of Mr. Fleetwood.

In 2017, each scholarship recipient will receive $2000 as per the attached guidelines.

All properly completed applications must be received by the West End Park and Open Space Commission (WEPOSC) on or before April 15, 2017.

DAVID FLEETWOOD MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP GUIDELINES

The size and duration of the scholarship will be determined annually by the Fleetwood Family and West End Park and Open Space Commission (WEPOSC). The amount for 2017 will be two (2) two thousand dollars ($2000.00).

All money raised for the scholarship will be deposited into an account created for the scholarship by WEPOSC.

This scholarship will be available for a 2017 graduate of the Pleasant Valley School District.

The recipient must:

Properly complete an application (see attached) and properly submit that application on or before the stated deadline.

Graduate from the Pleasant Valley High School.

Have participated in interscholastic athletics while in high school (as reported on the application).

Have served his/her community through performing community service activities (as reported on the application).

Have displayed an interest in the outdoors (as reported on the application).

Go to an accredited two (2) year college or four (4) year college and perform public service during the period of attendance.

Be a full-time student (at least 12 credits per semester) who maintains at least a 2.0 GPA during the period for which the scholarship is awarded.

The award will be provided to the recipient in two (2) equal installments. The first installment will be a cash award given at the time designated by the school district for such presentations. The second installment will be after the student has properly provided proof (an official transcript) of post-secondary school attendance, GPA, and participation in community service (a letter from the governing officer of the public service organization[s] confirming participation) to the scholarship committee.

The award will be presented at the time designated by the school district for such presentations and will be presented by the Fleetwood family and/or designee.

The recipient of the award will be chosen by a committee of the Fleetwood family and WEPOSC.

The award will be disbursed by WEPOSC.
