9 heroin bricks found during Jackson Township stop

Police arrested a Sciota woman Thursday after a routine traffic stop led to the discovery of nine bricks of heroin, hundreds of pills and $2,000 in currency.

According to a police report, Jade Cullen, 30, was traveling on Interstate 80 west in a black Toyota Camry at about 11 p.m. in Jackson Township, when a Pennsylvania state trooper from the Stroudsburg barracks observed her traveling 80 miles per hour in a 65 mile an hour zone. She was also seen swerving and changing lanes without signaling.

During a traffic stop, the trooper said Cullen was sweating profusely and had small pupils. Cullen said she did not have her driver’s license but provided the trooper with her information. A records check by the trooper showed she had been arrested on drug charges that day, and she was asked to step out of her car.

When the trooper asked Cullen if she had any drugs, Cullen removed a clear plastic bag from her pocket containing two bricks of suspected heroin, multiple white rectangular pills, and a round white pill. She then pulled out U.S. currency from her pocket, according to the report.

The trooper asked Cullen to perform several field sobriety checks, which he said indicated signs of intoxication. The trooper then asked Cullen if there were any other drugs in the vehicle, and she told him there may be more under the driver’s seat. A search of the vehicle for narcotics revealed a black clothing bag containing additional drugs under the front seat.

Police recovered nine bricks of suspected heroin, $1,999, and a brown medication bottle with 327 white rectangular pills stamped “2,” four blue oval pills stamped “GG258,” and one white round pill.

Cullen was transported to the Monroe County Correctional Facility for chemical testing.

She was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance, two counts of the manufacture, delivery or possession with the intent to manufacture or deliver, criminal use of a communication facility, all felonies, and other related drug and motor vehicle charges.

Cullen was arraigned Friday in front of District Magistrate Judge Richard Claypool and remanded to the jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail.
