ATTENTION CHESTNUTHILL TOWNSHIP RESIDENTS: Round two of Nor’easters is on it’s Way

Round two of Nor'easters is on its way. Once the storm begins PLEASE stay off the roads unless it is absolutely necessary to travel. One of the biggest issues we had with keeping roadways open in the last storm was getting our trucks around the township due to so many vehicles being stuck and blocking roadways.

Please also be aware that it is prohibited to park vehicles on Township roadways. Please keep all vehicles in your driveway and not on the road in front of your house. Vehicles that are parked (not stuck or broken down) may be ticketed and towed.

Please also understand that there are still utility poles and wires down in areas of the Township that PPL is working to remove. Hopefully, the winds won't be as strong with this storm but poles, wires, and trees in roadways will hamper plowing. We will do the best we can considering possible adverse conditions.

We know many of you are still without power and patience is in short supply, but we ask for patience in clearing our roadways. Chestnuthill Township has the fifth largest township road system in Pennsylvania with over 300 lane miles to clear, so it takes time to get to everyone. Township trucks will be accompanying any emergency vehicles to calls to make sure emergencies are handled safely and quickly. This may cause other road clearing to be delayed.

Please also remember that the Township is NOT responsible for State Highways. They are plowed by PennDOT and include:
CAMP AKIBA RD
FAIRGROUNDS RD
GILBERT RD
GREENVIEW DR
JONAS RD
ROUTE 115
ROUTE 209
ROUTE 715
SMITH HILL RD
STATE RD
SUGAR HOLLOW RD
WEIR LAKE RD

Finally, we ask you to stay tuned for emergency text alerts from Chestnuthill Township. If you haven't enrolled in this free program, go to http://www.chestnuthilltwp-pa.gov/mobile-text-alerts and sign up!!

PLEASE BE SAFE!!
