Elderly man a victim of identity theft

An elderly Monroe County man is the victim of an identity theft incident.

State police at Fern Ridge said an 86-year-old from Effort, Chestnuthill Township, reported someone obtained his personal information and opened an Internet PayPal account. As a result about $730 in debt has been charged to the victim.

The incident occurred sometime between Feb. 1 and May 5.
