Pedestrian Struck Rt 115 and Maggie Way Effort 1/07/18 at 02:48 am

CHESTNUTHILL TOWNSHIP: This morning (01/07/17) at 02:48 am Francisco Casariego, 60 of Blakeslee was traveling north on Rt 115 when he struck Ryan Pasanen, 38 of Saylorsburg who was in the right lane of Rt 115 at Maggie Way (Across from Mike's Pizza) in Effort.

Mr. Pasanen hit the windshield of Mr. Casariego's 2008 Chevrolet causing what Police describe as Severe Injuries, Mr. Casariego was also injured with facial lacerations from the flying windshield glass.

Mr. Pasanen was flown to Lehigh Valley Cedar Crest by MedEvac 2, the Police report doesn't state if or where Mr. Casariego transported to.

West End Volunteer Fire Co. assisted by Tunkhannock Township Volunteer Fire Co. setup a Landing Zone in the Parking Lot by Vincent's Pizza at 03:02 am as well as traffic control.

Both directions of Rt 115 were closed for hours while the State Police investigated the accident.

West End Volunteer Fire Co., Tunkhannock Township Volunteer Fire Co., West End Ambulance, St. Luke's EMS and State Police responded.
