PennDOT Announces Start of Pavement Preservation Project on PA 33 in Northampton County
Allentown, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Engineering District 5 announced today work is scheduled to begin next week on a $5,097,705 project on PA 33 in Stockertown Borough, Bushkill, Plainfield, and Palmer townships, Northampton County.
The pavement preservation project includes milling, concrete patching, and paving of approximately 4.5 miles of PA 33 between the Main Street and Belfast exits.
Starting Monday (May 20), motorists should expect lane restrictions on PA 33 in both north and southbound directions. Northbound PA 33 will be restricted between the hours of 7:00 PM to 2:00 PM and southbound will see restrictions between 10:00 AM and 5:00 AM.
James D. Morrissey, Inc. of Philadelphia, PA is the general contractor on the project, which is expected to be complete in November. Traffic on PA 33 in the project area ranges between 18,703-27,336 vehicles northbound and 17,721-27,370 vehicles southbound.
PennDOT Announces Start of Easton Avenue Corridor Improvement Project in Northampton
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Engineering District 5 announced today work is scheduled to begin next week on a $2,417,553 project to improve five intersections on Easton Avenue in the City of Bethlehem and Bethlehem Township, Northampton County.
Work on this project includes traffic signal upgrades and the installation of American with Disabilities Act compliment curb ramps to the following intersections:
• Easton Avenue at East Boulevard;
• Easton Avenue at Stefko Boulevard;
• Easton Avenue at the Giant Shopping Center;
• Easton Avenue at the Aldi Shopping Center;
• Easton Avenue at Willow Park Road.
The project also includes the addition of a turning lane at the intersection of Willow Park Road and Easton Avenue.
Beginning on Monday, May 20, motorists should expect to see weekday lane restrictions between the hours of 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM between Stefko Boulevard and Santee Road. Updates will be provided whenever traffic pattern schedules change.
J. D. Eckman, Inc. of Atglen, PA is the general contractor on the project, which is expected to be complete in October. Easton Avenue has an average daily traffic volume the ranges between 8,421-16,595 vehicles.
