PennDOT to hold a Open House to Display the Plans for the Widening of I-80 in Monroe County
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) will hold an open house plans display on December 4th to share information about plans that have been developed to widen and improve safety on the Interstate 80 corridor in Monroe County between exits 303 and 307 in Stroudsburg and East Stroudsburg boroughs and Stroud Township.
The open house plans display will be conducted at the Stroudsburg High School cafeteria between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM. The Stroudsburg High School is located at 1100 Main Street, Stroudsburg, PA 18360. An open house format will allow all interested persons to attend at whatever time is convenient for them during this two-hour period. The open house will include videos and other displays illustrating the proposed improvements. Members of the project team will be available to answer questions about the project.
“We want to get information out to the public and business community to seek their feedback before we proceed with final design,” said Imtiaz Nathaniel, senior project manager for PennDOT Engineering District 5 which covers east central Pennsylvania. “The open house format provides people an opportunity to talk directly with project personnel.”
The project calls for improvements to I-80 including three through lanes in each direction, reconfiguring interchanges and improving on and off ramps to improve mobility and interconnectivity, and replacing multiple bridges.
PennDOT has developed a website for the I-80 Reconstruction Project as another way to communicate the project status to the public. The website contains an overview of the purpose of the project and presents the proposed conceptual improvement options and summaries of the public outreach program. Content updates will be posted as the project advances. You can visit the project website at www.I80project.com.
