Polk Twp traffic stop nets heroin

By Andrew Scott Pocono Record Writer

A Gilbert man was charged Monday with 45 counts of heroin possession, four counts of drug paraphernalia possession and two counts of driving under the influence after being stopped by police Saturday in Polk Township.

Ronald Lee Mackes Jr., 58, was released on his own recognizance and is awaiting a district court hearing.

Police pulled Mackes over after he crossed the double-yellow line on Burger Hollow Road, approaching Long Mountain Road, a press release states. Police noted Mackes’ glassy eyes and nervous manner, found he had a permit to carry a concealed gun and learned he was wanted in Hunterdon, N.J., at the time.

Police asked Mackes to exit the vehicle and then searched it, finding glassine packets of heroin and paraphernalia in the center console. Mackes admitted to using heroin prior to driving and displayed signs of impairment when being tested for sobriety, police said.

He later submitted to a blood test.

What is wrong with these judges?? ‘was released on his own recognizance and is awaiting a district court hearing. he was wanted in Hunterdon, N.J., at the time”. Wonder why we have a drug problem in this country? He will be long gone and will never show up for court. Good job
