Race Fans Reminded Delays Are Expected Today and Tomorrow

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) reminds race fans traveling to Pocono Raceway and others traveling to the Pocono Mountain region today and tomorrow single lane conditions exist on I-80 eastbound in Monroe County between exits 284 (Blakeslee / PA 115) and 293 (Scranton / JCT I-380). All lanes are anticipated to be open late tomorrow afternoon.

Traffic volumes are expected to be larger than usual and significant delays are expected today and tomorrow on I-80 east in Monroe County. Motorists traveling to the Pocono Mountain region from western Pennsylvania may wish to seek alternate routes.

Motorist should then expect reinstatement of long-term lane restrictions on Monday morning.

A $6,988,050 highway repair project began on this section of I-80 East in July 2017 and is anticipated to be complete this September. Work includes milling, concrete patching, joint cleaning, and sealing, paving, updating guide rail, and installing new pavement markings.
