Saylorsburg Couple Arrested After 6 month old Infant Dies

CHESTNUTHILL TOWNSHIP: On Sunday, May 6th, 2018 just before 11:30 am we heard the call go out for a 6 month old baby not breathing and blue on Long Woods Drive in Saylorsburg and our heart dropped. MCCC gave additional information to the two responding West End Ambulance units (BLS & ALS) that the mother stated that she fed the baby earlier and went to check on him and found him not breathing.

West End Ambulance arrived quickly and as soon as they could transported the baby to St. Luke's Monroe Emergency Room where the baby was pronounced dead.

Knowing that we would not be available on Monday to do a follow up, we contacted both WNEP and WBRE and gave them all the information that we could which both stations did as soon as information was available last night.

The parents of the six month old Samantha DeFrancesco and Christian Tuliszewski, both 23 of Saylorsburg, were charged with Endangering The Welfare Of Children and may face additional drug charges. State Police say that both parents admit to smoking marijuana the night before, then falling asleep on the couch. They also allegedly admitted to using heroin around that time.

State Police Investigators also allegedly found drug paraphernalia around the house, including hypodermic needles in the kitchen drying rack next to infant bottles. Court papers indicate DeFrancesco and Tuliszewski also used meth within the past week.

There was a three-year-old was also in the home.

Samantha DeFrancesco and Christian Tuliszewski, are behind bars in Monroe County, unable to post $25,000 dollars bail each. They're tentatively due back in court later this month.
