A woman who previously pleaded guilty to driving under the influence was sentenced to a jail term on Thursday in Carbon County court before Judge Joseph J. Matika.

Brook Lynn Bleamer, 36, of Saylorsburg, was sentenced to prison on two counts of DUI and a charge of endangering the welfare of a child.

She was arrested by state police at Lehighton after being involved in a crash on Oct. 22, 2015. At the scene troopers found a 7-year-old in the vehicle. The second arrest occurred in Palmerton on Aug. 11, 2016, when borough police stopped her vehicle. A test in that case revealed a 0.13 BAC.

Bleamer had requested to be considered for the county’s Intermediate Punishment Program — house arrest — but the adult probation office recommended she not be placed in the program. Matika denied the request, stating the first arrest was a serious matter as she was driving under the influence with a juvenile in the vehicle.

Bleamer went through an inpatient program for 27 days after the arrests and is currently receiving counseling.

On the first DUI count Matika sentenced her to serve 30 days to two years in prison, pay a fine of $1,500, suspended her license for 18 months, zero tolerance for drug and alcohol use, and render a total of 100 hours of community service when her prison term is completed. The prison term will be followed with three years of probation. On the endangering charge she was sentenced to serve 30 days to one year in jail.

On the second DUI she was sentenced to serve 120 days to 24 months in prison, pay a fine of $500 and another 18-month license suspension.

She was given credit for 27 days spent in the rehab with all the prison terms running concurrently.

She will serve the remaining prison time on consecutive three-day prison stints starting at 8 p.m. March 12.
