Stroudsburg Woman Arrested in Fatal Overdose
Nachelle Davis, 50, of Stroudsburg, has been arrested and charged with drug delivery resulting in death, involuntary manslaughter, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and criminal use of a communication facility in the January 2020 death of Ashley Pinero.
This case was a result of an investigation led by Monroe County District Attorney’s Office Detective Kim Lippincott into the death of 37 year old Ashley Pinero of Stroudsburg from a fentanyl overdose.
The investigation eventually led investigators to Nachelle Davis. The facts set forth in the affidavit show that on January 10, 2020, Nachelle Davis provided heroin, which was ultimately found to contain fentanyl, to Ashley Pinero in the Stroudsburg area. Ashley overdosed on the morning of January 11 and was hospitalized in intensive care until she ultimately died on January 15, 2020.
Toxicology reports indicated that Pinero died from fentanyl toxicity. Phone records and text based communications between Ashley and Nachelle show that Nachelle was the source of the fatal dose.
Nachelle Davis was arraigned by MDJ Kristina Anzini and she was held without bail. She is currently incarcerated in the Monroe County Correctional Facility awaiting a preliminary hearing for these charges.
This case is part of the ongoing efforts of the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office to investigate drug overdose deaths. First Assistant District Attorney Michael Mancuso spearheaded the formation of the Drug Delivery Resulting in Death Task Force. This task force consists of four detectives and four prosecutors from the District Attorney’s Office focused on combating the heroin epidemic and holding drug dealers accountable for deaths of heroin users.
