The Gateway to The West End

The gateway to the west end. Why is nothing being done? Fines etc. Get rid of the rip off donation bins, the only legitimate one is the Salvation Army.
Send the township truck out, clean it, dump the bin in the metal recycle container at the dump and then bill the land owner.
Editors Note: The Location is Hilltop Drive-in Rt 209.
Christopher Eckert - Chestnuthill Township Pennsylvania Supervisor posted the following in our Facebook Comments:
Please, everyone, take a breath. Chestnuthill Township is on top of this. We have issued violation notices and the Monroe County Waste Authority has been brought in to assist with enforcement. Everyone needs to understand that once violation notices are issued, there is a 30 day compliance period by law that the property owner has to clean up the mess. The end of that period is drawing to an end. If the mess is not cleaned up, the Township must file formal charges with the District Court, and there will be a time period before court dates are set, etc.
Unfortunately, due process, that all accused persons have a Constitutional right to, takes time. The Township does not have the right to enter private property to take corrective action until the defendant has his/her day in court (if it gets that far). This is also not the only site that we have active violation notices pending. We are being as aggressive with these eyesores as permitted by law.
Next, I have drafted an ordinance that if adopted, will regulate donation bins, provide for registration of the bins, and regulate the number, location, and problems associated with illegal dumping. It is currently being reviewed by our Township Attorney. In the meantime, if anyone sees people dumping (as I noted someone did in the comments) please try to get a plate number and description of the vehicle and call the Township at 570-992-7247. PLEASE, don't put yourself in danger trying to get a plate number; only do it if you can do so safely. Finally, I understand everyone's frustration with situations like this.
However, rather than ruminating on Facebook, please give us a call or shoot me a message so we can provide you with accurate information, or to inform us of an issue we may not be aware of. That's what we're here for; to serve the residents. That's why you elected us as Township Supervisors. WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU! Bridge Associates of Brodheadsville, LLC was incorporated on 9/27/2004 and filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy in 2010. This a discrace when the owner is a self proclaimed millionare.
The owner didn’t dump that stuff, it’s lazy people in this township that can’t take their garbage to the recycling center like everyone else.
I agree with you!
People are pigs. I was there one night when to P/U trucks came and dumped their garbage there !!!!!!
Yes and my husband and I saw people dumping in broad daylight on Thursday. Why do people feel the need t deface our community. It’s their community also. So sad.
