Tragedy Strikes Another Westender Three Weeks Before Christmas – Please Share
POLK TOWNSHIP: On Saturday, December 8th, 2018 at 1:45 pm Kunkletown Volunteer Fire, Polk Township Volunteer Fire, West End Volunteer Fire, and West End Ambulance were dispatched to 924 Top Rd in Debuler's Trailer Park in Gilbert for a Residential House Fire. Fire Units arrived within minutes of being dispatched to an almost fully involved Mobile Home. Blue Ridge Hook and Ladder and Carbon County District 9 were also called to help out with the fire.
Crews Battled the blaze but unfortunately, the Mobile Home was a total loss and at least one of the homeowner's cat perished in the fire.
The homeowner Gerri Clark (77) has lived there for more than 30 years, but because of her very low monthly income could not afford the high premium for insurance on such an old trailer.
Many may know Gerri with her Pink hair as a Volunteer at The Eldred Township Community Thrift Store, The West End Food Pantry as well as other places, she is a very sweet lady that now instead of helping others needs our help as a community.
One of Gerri's concerns is how to get rid of what is left of the trailer, she doesn't have the money for someone to come in and remove it. If there is anyone that can volunteer to remove and dispose of the trailer it would be greatly appreciated.
Gerri also needs to find a place to live that she can afford, ideally finding a replacement trailer that someone could donate or that she could buy cheap and have it moved to where she has lived for more than 30 years would be the best option.
If you can help monetarily, donations can be sent to Leah Hull 206 Joy Glen Road, Sciota, Pa, 18354 attention Gerri Clark.
