Visit The West End Food Pantry Stand at The West End Fair August 19 thru August 25th
After Blue Ridge Hook and Ladder made its decision to leave the West End Fair, the fair committee offered the stand to The West End Food Pantry run by Karena Thek out of the Eldred Township Community Center. This opportunity will be a Great Way for the food pantry to raise needed funds to continue to feed the almost 300 families in their service area twice monthly.
On Saturday (7/28/18) I had the pleasure of helping the volunteers that devoted their day to cleaning up and doing repairs to the stand in preparation of the debut of the New Stand, we scrubbed, scraped, power washed, repaired shelves, windows, and doors, pulled nails and staples to make sure the stand was safe for both customers and workers alike.
The stand will get a new paint job next week to spruce it up a bit thanks to Karena's community minded contacts and the blacktop will be resealed before the fair also.
The menu hasn't been finalized as of yet but Karena and Crew hope to nail it down this week and we will bring it to you as soon as we can and we hope you will support their efforts when you are at the fair. In case your not familiar with The West End Food Pantry, they are an emergency food provider located in the southern tier of Monroe County, Pennsylvania. They provide Food and other Services to Families and the Elderly in need in the following areas in Monroe and Carbon Counties:
Monroe County: Kunkletown 18058, Kresgeville 18333, Gilbert 18331, Saylorsburg 18353, Brodheadsville 18322, Effort 18330, Sciota 18354, Stroudsburg 18360, Long Pond 18334, Reeders 18352, Bartonsville 18321, Tannersville 18372.
Carbon County: Albrightsville 18210, Aquashicola 18012, Palmerton 18071, Bowmanstown 18030, Parryville 18244, Lehighton 18235.

If you would like to donate items, they can be dropped off any Friday before distribution. We distribute the 1st & 3rd Saturday of each month. Supplies can also be dropped off at Kunkletown General Store, Mrs. Bush's Personal Care Home, or Eldred Twp Municipal office during normal working hours.
