What Happened to the West End Volunteer Fire Co. Carnival?
We have been asked many times "What Happened to the West End Volunteer Fire Co. Carnival?"
According to Chief Don Zipp, "it was no easy decision for the department but unfortunately the last few years we had been lucky to break even financially.", "But they are in the process of looking to conduct a different type of event in the future."
With rising costs of Prizes, Food and other supplies and the dwindling Community Support, we can see Chief Zipp's point that it was no longer viable to continue with the Carnival. And with the Rising costs of Fire Apparatus upwards of $500,000.00 and the Costs of other Equipment the West End Volunteer Fire Co. will have to look into other ways to raise funds.
West End Volunteer Fire Co. also needs Volunteers! They not only need Volunteer Firefighters, they also need Volunteers in other areas like Fundraising, Volunteers to work various programs they have, Fire Police, Associate Member and the Ladies Auxiliary.
As a Community we need to come together and do whatever we can to Support our Local Fire Department. If you are interested in Volunteering visit the West End Volunteer Fire Company's website at wefco.org, wefco43.org or go to MakeMeAFirefighter.org
